Add two more robberies to a growing list of crimes in the Long Neck area that have residents demanding greater police presence.

The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit is investigating an armed robbery and an attempted robbery on May 1 that may have been committed by the same suspect, police said.

The first incident occurred at about 9:40 p.m. at the Angola Shore Stop at 20701 John J. Williams Highway. A man whose face was covered approached a clerk and demanded money from the register, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier, a spokesman for the Delaware State Police.

The clerk refused. The suspect fled south on Camp Arrowhead Road empty handed. The clerk was uninjured, Fournier said.

About 45 minutes later, a 911 call was received from the Long Neck Dash In five miles away at 24851 John J. Williams Highway, police said.

The caller said a male subject armed with a handgun had demanded cash from the clerk. The employee complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect fled southbound behind the building. The store employee was uninjured, Fournier said.

The suspect in both incidents is described as a white male, 5 feet, 7 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He was wearing a dark colored sweatshirt and pants. No further description was given. No surveillance photos are available at this time, police said.
