CORRECTION: This report has been updated to correct the pedestrian's location at the time of the accident.

Ocean City police said a second pedestrian accident over the weekend has left a man in serious condition at the hospital.

The crash occurred at about 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8. Police said a vehicle was headed south on Coastal Highway and hit a pedestrian at the intersection of 54th Street.

The preliminary investigation shows the pedestrian was just north of the crosswalk, according to police, and the car had a green light.

A state police helicopter flew the pedestrian, a man in his early 20s, to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, where, as of Sunday, police said he remained in critical condition. Police did not release name of the victim on Monday.

The first pedestrian accident in Ocean City over the weekend occurred Friday night when Master Trooper James Price, a 17-year veteran of the Maryland State Police, struck a pedestrian near 76th Street, who police said darted in front of his marked Ford Explorer.

The Friday victim, who police have been unable to identify, was transported by emergency medical personnel to Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin where they were pronounced dead.

Ocean City saw an influx of visitors over the weekend for Endless Summer Cruisin', one of the resort town's sanctioned events for car enthusiasts, which brings people together to showcase hot rods, custom and classic cars and trick trucks.

City officials announced in a news release prior to the start of the event that they would be bringing allied law enforcement agencies into Ocean City for the weekend.

Price, who is assigned to the Princess Anne Barrack but was in Ocean City to assist with road patrol, has been placed on administrative leave, a routine procedure, according to police.

The Maryland State Police CRASH Team is conducting the investigation, which will be presented to the Worcester County State's Attorney's Office once completed.
