More Delaware schools choose to close Tuesday

Icy conditions following a Monday night storm which dropped sleet across the state have some schools still closed and others getting a late start. 

Some schools and districts originally had planned a late start, but then opted to remain closed for the day. That includes Red Clay, Christina and Colonial school districts. 

The National Weather Service warned late Monday night that overnight temperatures would be low enough to threaten roadway safety Tuesday morning. As temperatures rise throughout the day, however, the ice should melt, NWS said. 

"Though the freezing rain has left the area, any ice accumulation on Monday will not have a chance to melt," NWS said. "Water on some treated roads and walkways may begin to refreeze, as well."
