The Chincoteague Police Department is being featured in a video after taking on a lip sync challenge for law enforcement agencies.

Chincoteague police officers have released a lip sync video as part of the trending #LipSyncBattle.

Chincoteague officers in the 9:22 video lip sync to the Imagine Dragon's song "Whatever it Takes," after they first debate other song choices, ranging from Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" to Big & Rich's "Save a Horse."

Still, the choice becomes clear, after Assistant Chief Major Bryan Lewis tells dispatcher Benjy Holloway to do "whatever it takes" to complete the challenge.

The video's release on YouTube came at about noon Tuesday, in the midst of Pony Penning week, the busiest week of the year on Chincoteague — and when the eyes of the world are trained on the little Virginia island that is home to the Saltwater Cowboys and the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, whose members own and care for the famous wild Chincoteague ponies.

The video starts off inside the police department office, then includes scenes filmed at Robert Reed Memorial Park, including the pony statue and the LOVE chairs at the park, and at the Assateague Lighthouse on Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.

Starring in the video are Chief Randy Mills, Major Bryan Lewis, Sgt. Tyler Greenley, Cpl. Thomas Adams, Cpl. Cody Butler, officer Chuck McPherson, officer Sean Lenhoff, officer Andy Miller, officer Jeffrey Stevens, dispatcher Amy Lewis, dispatcher Benjy Holloway, dispatcher Erika Snyder, eispatcher Rachael Northam and park attendant Alice Reed.

The Chincoteague police challenged several other departments to follow suit and produce their own lip sync videos.

"We are challenging Emporia Virginia Police Department, Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel Police Department and the Accomack County Sheriff's Office!" a post on the department's Facebook page reads.

"Thank you all for supporting us ... we had a lot of fun making this for you. We also anticipated the video going 'viral,' so we decided to promote our little slice of heaven called Chincoteague Island at the end!" the post says.

The department took on the challenge after polling its followers on social media, with 97 percent giving the nod to Chincoteague's finest making a video.
