A professional photographer is being investigated after inappropriate photos were allegedly taken at Sussex Technical High School's homecoming dance on Saturday, police confirmed Monday morning.

Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe of Delaware State Police issued the following statement about the photos:

"The Delaware State Police is investigating an incident involving inappropriate photography by a hired photographer. At this time no arrest has been made and the case continues to remain under investigation."

Neither police nor the school described the photos or explained what made them "inappropriate."

There was a semi-private photo booth set up at the event where students were going in and out of for pictures throughout the night, according to a News Journal photographer who was also taking pictures at the event

SpinJox, LLC, an entertainment company that DJs and has a photo booth, was at the event but said it isn't involved. The business is owned by Chad Messina of Camden.

"Mr. Messina is aware of the allegations reported on Sept. 28 at Sussex Technical High School's homecoming dance," said the company's lawyer Dianna Louder in a statement. "No DJs affiliated with SpinJocs are being investigated. The investigation is ongoing and Mr. Messina has cooperated, and will continue to fully cooperate, with the State Police investigation."

The school posted a statement about the photos on Facebook and Twitter Sunday:

"Sussex Technical High School administrators became aware of a report of alleged inappropriate photography at last night's homecoming dance. The issue was referred to the Delaware State Police, who are investigating.

"The safety and well-being of students is our top priority and immediate action was taken. Our school safety officers are present at all school functions for the protection of students and staff."

The dance was in the high school's gym. The theme was "Starry Starry Night."
