Reports of gunfire, fighting at closing time on Trolley Square Halloween Loop

Wilmington police, as well as officers from other area departments, converged on the city's Trolley Square after a report of fighting and gunfire among crowds just after closing time at one of the locations on the city's Halloween Loop.

There were no immediate reports of injuries.

Police crime scene tape ringed the sidewalk in front of Kelly's Logan House as costumed revelers wandered the surrouding blocks shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.

Inside the tape, workers took down temporary fencing and cleaned up after an evening of partying while police investigators collected evidence on the Logan House's front patio adjoining elevated train tracks.

Wilmington police were joined by New Castle County and Delaware State Police in force at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and N. DuPont Street, the heart of the Trolley Square commercial district and location of the Logan House. By 1:20 a.m., however, any apparent disturbances had been quieted and most of the lingering Halloween partyers were drifting away from the area.

Moments earlier, though, just after closing time of 1 a.m. emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the Logan House after reports of gunfire. They were quickly told to disregard after no victims were found.

The Wilmington Halloween Loop included 10 nightspots throughout the city Saturday night into early Sunday, including four in Trolley Square. Participants - costumes not required - could purchase wristbands which offered admission to each of the Loop venues. The event regularly draws thousands of people and has been a staple on the city's nightlife calendar for decades.
