Slaughter Beach movie 'Delaware Shore' premieres in First State on Jan. 25
The movie "Delaware Shore" is coming home after opening in Los Angeles and New York in December.
The award-winning film directed by Raghav Peri will premiere Jan. 25 at the Penn Cinema Riverfront in Wilmington and run through Jan. 31.
The movie was shot mostly in Slaughter Beach, with other scenes filmed in Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Milford, Newark and Wilmington.
"'Delaware Shore' got a big thumbs up from general audiences during releases in L.A. and New York," Peri said. "It was the First State where we shot it and we're thrilled to bring it back to where it all began."
The critically acclaimed film focuses on a Holocaust survivor who escaped the concentration camps and is haunted by the atrocities of war. She seeks refuge at Slaughter Beach, and then must raise her two grandchildren when they are abandoned on her doorstep.

As they grow, she finds she is not able to control them and she becomes emotionally abusive toward them.
The children are bright and talented, but struggle to find the affection they miss at home and to deal with unforeseen life-changing moments.
The movie is based on the novel by New Castle author Michaelangelo Rodriguez and was written, produced and directed by Peri, who lived in Delaware during production and for a better part of four years before departing in 2018.
A movie-goer from Delaware who took in the NYC premiere said it was great seeing some of the scenery from "back home" and that "Delaware Shore" is a "must-see" movie.
