A 24-year-old New Castle man was shot to death and a woman seriously wounded as they left a party early Sunday in Dover, police said.

The man killed was identified as Tyson Henry.

Dover police said the shooting was reported at 1:24 a.m. in the 300 block of Simon Circle.

The 25-year-old woman, a resident of the Dover area, was shot in the lower body and underwent surgery at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover, police said, adding she was in serious but stable condition.

Henry, also shot in the lower body, also was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Both were taken to the hospital by private vehicle, Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

He said the shots were fired as people were leaving a private party and heading to their vehicles, gathering in the yard and street.

Hoffman said there was no relationship between the two victims.

He said detectives are interviewing witnesses who are cooperating but police have no suspect information to release.

Hoffman said they are investigating the possibility of gang involvement but so far there is no indication of any.

He asked anyone with information to call (302) 736-7111.
