An 18-year-old associate of a Wilmington gang pleaded guilty to charges related to the June shooting of a 20-year-old man in Wilmington, according to state prosecutors.

Bryan Briggs, an associate of the Shoot To Kill gang, pleaded guilty to assault in the first degree and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Deputy Attorney General Cynthia Hurlock secured the plea, said Carl Kanefsky, spokesman for Delaware Attorney General Matt Denn.

In June, two men were involved in a fight in the 1300 block of N. Walnut St. when Briggs, who was sitting nearby, jumped in and started shooting, hitting the victim in the abdomen and neck.

The victim was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics before being taken to Christiana Hospital.

Briggs faces two to 25 years on each court.

He is scheduled for sentencing in Superior Court in April.

Teen shootings in Wilmington have been fueled by a deadly rivalry between two street gangs – Shoot To Kill and Only My Brothers – leading to the arrest of more than 20 men after an indictment last summer.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated Briggs' relationship with the Shoot To Kill gang. State prosecutors say he is an associate of the group.
