A 30-year-old man was cited for drunk driving after a crash that partially closed Del. 1 North at Red Lion Creek Bridge for several hours Saturday night, according to authorities.

A 30-year-old man was cited for drunk driving after a crash that partially closed Del. 1 North at Red Lion Creek Bridge for several hours Saturday night, according to authorities.

State police said the crash happened about 6 p.m. A Nissan Maxima operated by the man lost control and struck the guardrail in the center median, State Police said. 

The driver's name has yet to be released pending notification of kin, police said.

A 30-year-old man was cited for drunk driving after a crash that partially closed Del. 1 North at Red Lion Creek Bridge for several hours Saturday night, according to authorities.

He was airlifted to Christiana Hospital in serious condition, police said. Christiana Fire Company reported removing the driver, who was trapped in the car after the crash.  

The crash closed northbound and southbound lanes. One lane was closed for hours for guardrail work.

Alcohol was detected at the scene, and the driver was charged with DUI, speeding, failure to stay in his lane and having no proof of insurance, state police said.
