18-year-old shot near Elsmere now listed in stable condition

A Saturday afternoon shooting victim now is in stable condition, but officers still are looking for the person they think pulled the trigger, New Castle County police said.

The shooting happened around 1 p.m., county police said. The victim is an 18-year-old man. 

Officers had Lake Street at Matthes Avenue in the Richardson Park community near Elsmere surrounded with crime scene tape Saturday afternoon. Officers photographed and collected several shell casings in the intersection. 

An 18-year-old man was shot on Lake Street near Elsmere on Saturday afternoon. New Castle County police are searching the shooter.

County police have been looking for a shooter since but haven't found him.

The victim was shot in the torso and taken to the hospital in critical condition. County police said the victim still is hospitalized. 

The investigation is ongoing.
