A Pike Creek man on his way back from a fishing trip stopped to buy a sandwich, picked up lottery tickets while he was there, and won $10,000 in the Mega Millions drawing on Oct. 23, according to the Delaware Lottery.

The man, who stayed anonymous, claimed his winning ticket on Nov. 2.

When he stopped at Malin's Market in Newark for his sandwich, the woman in front of him in line bought 10 tickets, but the Quick Pick numbers were printed on the same ticket and she wanted them individually printed. The man offered to buy the numbers printed on the same ticket, one of which won the prize. After taxes, the prize is worth $7,600.

The winner said he was in disbelief, according to Delaware Lottery. He said he plans to do some work on his house and save the rest for his daughters.
