The sixth annual Dewey Beach Arts Festival will hit Dagsworthy Street bayside on May 13.

The second annual Dewey Beach Arts Festival drew a good Mother's Day crowd despite a rain delay. The event will return for its sixth season on May 13.

Sponsored by the Dewey Business Partnership, the Saturday event will host more than 50 artists who will be selling their creations.

This year's festival will be produced in conjunction with the Dewey Artists Collaboration, a local organization that energizes Southern Delaware artists to enrich life and inspire art movements.

The festival has become a spring staple of the community. Each year it grows a little bit bigger.

“We’ve brought in the Dewey Artist Collaboration, which is new, and they will have a large tent set up with demonstrations. Also new this year is the beer garden, where people can try new local craft beers,” said organizer Kelly Ranieri.

As Dewey continues to grow, business partners hope that hosting events like this will provide good, old-fashioned family fun and give back to the community.

Dewey is well-known for its nightlife in summer, but family-oriented events will help expand its appeal year-round.

“We have so much talent here locally, and we’re an exceptional community. Come on out – you may discover something new, and it’s a terrific chance to support local artistry,” said Steve “Monty” Montgomery, owner of The Starboard Restaurant and member of the Dewey Business Partnership.

The array of art for sale is an opportunity to shop for Mother’s Day. The Dewey Beach Lions Club will be present, offering a variety of children’s activities and the Lions Club tent will display artwork from Rehoboth Elementary students.

Face painting, moon bounces, crafts, activities and games, interactive demonstrations by the Salisbury Zoo and the Delaware State Police will ensure that there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

The festival will also feature live music by Mark Luckenbill, food trucks and more against the backdrop of one of the beach’s best small towns.

Festival hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, and the rain date is May 14. The event and parking are free. Dagsworthy Street will be restricted to traffic and parking beginning at 6 p.m. on May 12.
