A selection committee, composed of district administrator and Indian River School District Board of Education members, reviewed all applications to select the 10-member committee based on their educational and vocational backgrounds.

The committee will serve in an advisory role and will make recommendations on financial matters regarding the district.

Duties include — but are not limited to — review of monthly and quarterly financial statements, review of the annual budget before it is presented to the Indian River Board of Education and review trends and potential future needs of the district in order to prioritize future spending.

Members of the committee will serve for two years with an option to continue serving at the discretion of the Indian River Board of Education.

The committee will meet at least once a quarter with the chairperson providing a report on their activities at a board of education meeting.

The committee may also meet with the district's already established Finance Committee at the discretion of the superintendent or Indian River Board of Education president.  All members will receive training provided by the Delaware Department of Education in July.
