The lifeguard hours at Delaware State Parks are changing.

Beginning Aug. 21 through Aug. 25, Delaware Seashore State Park's Tower Road will not have a lifeguard.

From Aug. 28 through Sept. 1, Delaware Seashore State Park's Tower Road and Fenwick Island State Park's Fenwick lot will not have a lifeguard.

During the weekends, these beaches will have a guard.

The rest of the guarded swimming beaches, including the main beach at Cape Henlopen State Park and South Indian River Inlet side of Delaware Seashore State Park, will have a lifeguard daily through Labor Day but with a limited staff.

All swimming beaches will have lifeguards on weekends through Labor Day, and hours will remain the same at 9 a.m. through 5 p.m. daily.

The Delaware coastline has been under rip current warnings as of late, however, DNREC says the changes are necessary because lifeguards are returning to either high school, college or school sports camps.
