Bethany Beach has released its survey to gather public input for a possible tents and canopies ban.

The survey has nine questions. Those filling it out must have a Bethany Beach address.

Umbrella's can be seen for miles at the Bethany Beaches during this holiday week on July 3, 2017.

"Because of the proliferation of various shading devices and complaints about their use, and based on information gathered over the past summer, the Town Council is considering whether or not to limit the use of shading devices on Bethany Beach," the introduction to the survey reads. "In considering the matter, we would appreciate your feedback, opinion and suggestions on the subject."

The crux of the survey is asking residents if they use shading devices, defined as a normal-sized beach umbrella, oversized beach umbrella, a canopy, tent or none.

The survey also asks if residents think oversized umbrellas, canopies or tents should be banned, or if or no shading devices should be outlawed.

Finally, the survey asks participants if they selected a device to be banned, should it be allowed only in specific areas of the beach.

The survey can be found on the town's website or by visiting https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/CWJHGLK.
