Chick-fil-A offers free meals for a year to 1st 100 adults at opening in Millsboro

Chick-fil-A lovers in Millsboro, rejoice.

A new Chick-fil-A is scheduled to open in the town on April 5, and the first 100 people 18 years old and over in line will get free Chick-fil-A for the year.

A Chick-fil-A tradition going back 14 years, the 100 dedicated enough to stand in line at 5:45 a.m. on April 5 will be selected to receive 52 Chick-fil-A meals for the year consisting of a chicken sandwich, medium waffle fries and a medium drink, according to a release.

In addition to free Chick-fil-A to 100 people, the new restaurant will also be bringing 100 new jobs to Millsboro as well as a children's book and clothing drive.

The drive will benefit John M. Clayton, East Millsboro and Long Neck elementary schools.

The restaurant will be collecting new and gently used children's books and clothing, including shoes for children in middle and elementary school, throughout the grand opening week.

The Millsboro branch will be 5,000 square feet and will feature a two-story interactive play area for children, free Wi-Fi, dual drive-through lanes, a dining room that seats 107 people and outdoor patio seating for 12, and a full-service menu featuring breakfast until 10:30 a.m., according to a release.

Chick-fil-A coming to Millsboro is very exciting for the town, said Sheldon Hudson, Millsboro town manager.

"We will be the first town in inland Sussex County to have a Chick-fil-A," Hudson said. "It dove tails with the town's goal to be a retail hub on central Delmarva, and we are very excited to welcome them into town."

Chick-fil-A first began operating in Delaware 25 years ago at the Dover Mall in 1993, according to the release. The Millsboro location will become the state's 12th location and is one of 140 Chick-fil-A restaurants expected to open this year.
