Two Delaware men face illegal dumping charges after an ongoing investigation revealed they had disposed of solid waste materials near Georgetown, according to the Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

Natural Resources police officers with DNREC’s Environmental Crimes Unit arrested Harry Harrison, 50, of Houston, Delaware and Basil Wilson, 26, of Dover on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Harrison was charged with one count of causing or contributing to the disposal or discharge of solid waste materials and one count of drug-paraphernalia possession related to cannabis. Harrison was issued a citation for both charges and ordered to pick up the trash he disposed at the scene.

Wilson received the same citation for the illegal dumping charge and was also ordered to pick up the trash he illegally disposed at the site, according to DNREC.

Residents can report illegal trash dumping to DNREC’s Natural Resources Police Environmental Crimes Unit by calling the 24-hour environmental complaints line at 800-662-8802.
