A Pennsylvania who sold counterfeit Polar Bear Plunge T-shirts is facing charges after Rehoboth Beach police recovered over 140 items.

Police say this isn't the first time Edward Brandt, 58, of Newtown, Pennsylvania, has attempted to sell fake gear. After a bystander reported Brandt during Sunday's event, police realized it was the same suspect who sold counterfeit T-shirts in 2016.

The event raises money for Special Olympics Delaware, which provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for thousands of children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

When police approached Brandt, he tried to hide the shirt he was holding up, according to a Rehoboth Beach Police Department release. In addition to the T-shirts, police recovered hundreds of dollars.

Brandt was charged with displaying and attempting to sell trademark counterfeit merchandise, a felony offense due to a prior conviction in 2005 in Kent County, police said. Brandt was also charged with theft by false promise under $1,500, which is a misdemeanor.

Brandt was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court and released on his own recognizance.
