Megatron, a rehabilitated harbor seal, was released back into the wild Wednesday in Ocean City.
The seal spent 11 weeks in rehabilitation after a case of dehydration, emaciation and skin lesions, according to a press release. Megatron gained almost 21 pounds during his stay thanks to a diet of herring, squid and capelin while he was taken care of by the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
He also grew 15 centimeters in length, according to the release.
Megatron was set for release around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning on the beach near 40th Street in Ocean City.
