Couple hit each other with bat, police say

staff report
Kevin L. Jones

Independence Day ended earlier for two Salisbury residents who deputies say exchanged blows with a baseball bat, landing themselves a pair of assault charges.

Wicomico County Sheriff’s deputies arrived to the 800 block of East Road in Salisbury after receiving reports of a domestic-related altercation at 8:17 p.m. July 4. Upon arrival, deputies say they met the residents, Kevin L. Jones, 42, and Lora L. Godwin, 26, of Salisbury. According to deputies, an argument the two were involved in grew violent when Godwin struck Jones with a baseball bat. Jones then used the same bat to strike Godwin, deputies say, leaving both with signs of injury.

Both Jones and Godwin were placed under arrest and charged with second-degree assault. Each was detained in the Wicomico County Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bond.
