The trial for Cecil County State's Attorney Edward "Ellis" Rollins, 60, to take place at the district court in Snow Hill, has been postponed until Thursday, Dec. 8.

On Wednesday, June 22, Rollins was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct near the Clarion Hotel in Ocean City, after reports were called in of a man exposing his genitals on a balcony to Ocean City Police.

Rollins was charged with two counts of indecent exposure and two counts of disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors which carry a maximum of $1,000 fine and/or three years of imprisonment for the former and a $500 fine and/or 60 days imprisonment for the latter if convicted. Following receiving his charges, Rollins was released on personal recognizance, ordered to make his first appearance in Worcester County within 30 days. Rollins will be prosecuted by State's Attorney for Worcester County Beau Oglesby.

At the time of his arrest, Rollins was in the running for the position of Cecil County Circuit Court Judge, a position previously held by both his father and grandfather. Prior to his arrest, Rollins, a Republican, had stated he had high hopes for receiving the position under Gov. Larry Hogan, rather than under former Democratic Gov. Martin O'Malley. Rollins subsequently dropped out of the race, though stating that his resignation was not an admission of guilt.

Rollins has continued to serve as State's Attorney.
