Police: Man falls from OC hotel balcony; alcohol played role

A man is in critical condition after a fall from an Ocean City hotel balcony early Saturday morning, police say.

According to Lindsay Richard, spokeswoman for the Ocean City Police Department, the unidentified 37-year-old man was sitting on the railing on a third-floor balcony at the 14th Street Commander Hotel at about 1:15 a.m. when he fell backward to the ground.

Alcohol played a role in the fall, Richard said Saturday afternoon.

The man was transported by Ocean City EMS to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and was treated for critical injuries, Richard said.
