A beachgoer in Ocean City suspected of suffering a medical episode was pulled from the ocean by a surf rescue team and then hospitalized in serious condition.

After other people reported early Friday, July 28 that a person was floating in the ocean, surf rescue technicians responded and pulled the victim to safety and administered first aid, said Jessica Waters, spokeswoman for Ocean City.

The victim, who was not identified, was then transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, said Waters. The victim's condition is believed to be serious, she said.

"A beachgoer was in the water and is believed to have suffered from some type of medical episode," Waters said late Friday. "Other beachgoers then reported seeing him floating."

The incident was reported to have happened in the late morning near Caroline Street.
