Former Berlin councilwoman Lisa Hall, owner of the Berlin Butcher Shop, is the suspect in an Ocean City police investigation into an Aug. 19 theft at an Acme, according to a police incident report.

The report shows the grocery store reported that $3,000 worth of "foodstuffs" was stolen, including whole ribeyes. The document lists Hall as the sole suspect.

At about 1:38 p.m. Aug. 19, officers responded to the ACME on 94th Street to conduct a theft investigation, according to Ocean City Police spokeswoman Lindsay Richard. She said employees told investigators a suspect placed a large meat order that day and the day before but did not pay for either one.

The investigation remains open, Richard said, as charges have not yet been filed, although they are likely pending. Richard said she was not able to confirm the suspect's identity because there are currently no charges.

Hall established the Berlin Butcher Shop in October 2016, shortly after she lost the town's mayoral race to incumbent Gee Williams. She also served as a Berlin council member for eight years.
