CORRECTION: This report has been updated to correct details on the Sept. 30 incident.

A Delaware man accused of hitting two officers in Ocean City as he fled arrest in late September has been indicted on attempted murder charges, officials say.

Antonio Ambrosino, 18, of Seaford was indicted by a Worcester County grand jury Oct. 24 on 15 charges, the county's state's attorney's office said in a news release.

Police said Ambrosino struck a Worcester County sheriff's deputy and an Ocean City police officer Saturday, Sept. 30, in an effort to avoid arrest.

When the officers were struck, two Ocean City officers fired their weapons. The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit has been investigating that shooting.

The Ocean City officer who was hit, along with another police officer, both fired at Ambrosino before he fled the scene, according to police. His car reached a dead end at 41st Street, where his passenger, 20-year-old Arkad Espinal of Reading, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody.

Ambrosino jumped into the Assawoman Bay and was caught by Maryland Natural Resources Police officers, according to police.

As part of the investigation into the officer-involved shooting, state police said they served a search warrant for the car Espinal and Ambrosino were in at the time of the incident.

Inside the car, investigators said they discovered a BB pistol, a knife and sheath, a bag of mushrooms suspected to be a controlled dangerous substance, about a half pound of suspect marijuana, several clear plastic bags and a notebook police believe lists drug transactions.

Ambrosino's charges include attempted first-degree murder of an Ocean City Police officer, first-degree assault against three officers, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of psilocybin (commonly known as “shrooms”) with the intent to distribute, attempting to elude police officers giving chase and transporting a gun replica.

Arkad Espinal was the passenger in a car that hit two police on Sept. 30, 2017.

Espinal was also indicted on five counts including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of psilocybin with the intent to distribute, and transporting a gun replica.

Ambrosino is being held without bail. His trial is scheduled for Feb. 12, 2018.

Espinal's trial is scheduled for Feb. 8, 2018.
