Crash in Salisbury kills 95-year-old Salisbury man

A serious crash on Business Route 50 near Queen Avenue killed a 95-year-old Salisbury man Friday night, according to state police.

William Madison Pender died after being transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center, police said.

Around 3:47 Friday, troopers responded to a two-car crash near Queen Avenue on Business Route 50. 

The investigation revealed that Pender's 2005 Buick LeSabre was heading south on Queen Avenue, where it failed to stop at the stop sign that intersects with Route 50 west, according to the state police release.

As Pender entered Route 50, his vehicle was struck by Marie Vonette Molme, 44, of Seaford, who had seven other occupants in the 2003 Honda Pilot, police said.

The seven passengers were transported to PRMC with injuries that were considered not life-threatening, police said. 

On Friday, a source with direct knowledge of the investigation had told Delmarva Now it appeared to be a double fatality.

“It’s definitely serious,” they said.
