Announced via a Facebook post on Jan. 10, the event is pairing with Delaware Racing to add a third Cruisin' location. U.S. 13 Dragway in Delmar, Delaware, will hold events from May 18-19, 2018, during Cruisin' Ocean City, running from May 17-20, 2018.

"We're still in the preliminary planning stages," said Bob Rothermel, event producer.

The goal behind adding another location in Delmar was to give Cruisin' participants more opportunity to explore Delmarva, he said. While the event is still in its early planning stages, Rothermel said attendees can likely expect a more racetrack-themed itinerary, including entertainment like burnouts and timed racing.

"Details to come ...," the Facebook post teased.

Cruisin' is an event that hosts more than 3,000 hot rods, custom cars, street machines and other vehicles, according to the event's Facebook page. It also includes car shows, parades and other entertainment.

The event already has two Ocean City locations, the  Inlet Parking Lot and the Roland E. Powell Convention Center.

Organizers also hold Endless Summer Cruisin' later in the year in Ocean City.

The event, along with other car-focused weekends like H2O International, have taken heat recently from Ocean City officials and residents. The Motor Event Task Force was created in November and held its first meeting in December, hoping to brainstorm ideas on how to better regulate official and unofficial events.

While the initial meeting didn't discuss canceling any event, it sought to ease the headaches the influx of visitors and cars bring to Ocean City. Various recommendations included creating special attendee "zones" and punitive rules on impounded vehicles.

The task force plans to meet again this month with the hope some of its recommendations will be presented to the Ocean City Town Council and adopted before Cruisin' kicks off in May.
