Ocean City police investigating death from fall on 53rd Street

Ocean City police are investigating an incident at the intersection 53rd Street and Coastal Highway. Investigators were on the third floor balcony.

Ocean City police are investigating the death of a person who fell from an “elevated position” early on Sunday morning.

Officers responded to an address on 53rd Street at 5:55 a.m. for an unconscious person, but the patient was determined to be dead by Ocean City Emergency Medical Service, police said.

UPDATE: Autopsy performed on woman who fell

No other details were released, but officers were seen conducting an investigation on a third floor balcony at a complex at 53rd Street and Coastal Highway.

Ocean City detectives are continuing an investigation into the matter.  

The patient’s name was not released because family members are still being notified, police said.

Further details are expected to be released Monday, according to police spokeswoman Lindsay Richard.
