Members of the Ocean City Police Department perform in a #lipsyncchallenge video that will be released on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018.

The Ocean City Police Department will soon join the ranks of law enforcement agencies across the country who have taken part in the viral lip sync challenge.

In a Thursday news release, police department spokesperson Lindsay Richard wrote that filming is already complete and the video is expected to drop on the agency's YouTube and Facebook pages on Friday, Aug. 10.

In addition to several police department employees, the video will also feature dispatchers and highlights of the resort town. D3 Corp and Sienar Productions donated video production services and Jolly Roger at the Pier also provided assistance.

On Wednesday, the department posted what is likely a teaser to Facebook, featuring a photo of several officers on a ride at Jolly Roger at the Pier along with the text, "When your supervisor orders you to @jollyrogeratthepier for a 'special project'..." The post encouraged followers to keep an eye out for this "special project" in the next few days.

The Ocean City Police Department isn't the first Eastern Shore law enforcement agency to take on the social media trend. The Chincoteague Police Department posted its lip sync challenge video to YouTube on July 24.

The 9:22 video opened with a debate over the song choice, which featured excerpts of Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and Big & Rich's "Save a Horse," before officers and dispatchers began lip syncing to the Imagine Dragons song "Whatever It Takes."

The department polled its Facebook users on July 11, asking if they wanted to see the agency participate in the challenge. The answer came back a resounding "Yes," with 97 percent responding in the affirmative.
