Ocean City's hidden spots: Where the locals go
With summertime in Ocean City over, it's officially locals season.
The weather is getting cooler, the days are getting shorter and the crowds have dispersed. The shoulder season months in the resort town allow for locals to take a needed breath and spend time enjoying why they love Ocean City.
To celebrate that, locals head to their favorite watering hole for a good meal and refreshing cocktail.

Duffy's Tavern
Why: This Irish-themed tavern is a great spot for locals to grab dinner and a cocktail. Duffy's is known for its Boxtys, an original Irish potato pancake cooked on a griddle and topped with various ingredients, according to its website. Wash it all down with different beers, wines, whiskeys and cocktails.

Mother's Cantina
Why: This Tex-Mex eatery is tucked into a shopping center on Philadelphia Avenue. Customers can find Mexican dishes like fajitas, tacos and chimichangas, and wash it all down with a cold margarita.

Assateague Diner and Bar
Why: The Assateague Diner offers customers everything they need on the way to the beach in one stop with food, drinks and gasoline. The three-part business (Assateague Diner, West Side Bar and Marlin Market) doesn't have just one type of clientele — bring the family in for a filling breakfast or relax at the bar with old friends.

Sello’s Italian Oven and Bar

The Surfside Rooster
Why: The Surfside Rooster, formally known as the Surfing Rooster, is the spot for Southern food with a twist. The restaurant's interior welcomes guests to sit down with a drink, a full plate of fried chicken or meatloaf, and stay awhile. But don't think The Surfside Rooster is just Southern comfort classics — the menu will surprise you with some unexpected additions.
