Starting this spring, families will be able to put their skills to the test at Ocean City's new ninja obstacle challenge course.

The town of Ocean City has partnered with Woodward, a progressive sports camp for kids, to bring the Woodward WreckTangle obstacle course to the resort town, according to a town press release. Woodward is also part of POWDR, an adventure lifestyle company.

The new ninja obstacle course will be located in the downtown area, adjacent to the Ocean City's Ocean Bowl Skate Park on Third Street and just a short walk away from the Boardwalk and beach, per the release.

Both children and adults can enjoy the WreckTangle course, which is named after its rectangular shape. The obstacle course is expected to open in late April and remain open through October, according to the release.

With 10 different obstacles, participants can compete to see who has the best "ninja" skills. Obstacles are designed to be achievable and fun for people of all ages, per the release.

Using the WreckTangle app, participants can also play against their friends in any Woodward obstacle course location, according to the release. The app allows users to share videos of their experiences, track their individual progression through the course, log personal records and compare their skills with friends.

Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan said in the release that he was excited to see the obstacle course come to the beach town.

"This is a great partnership, in that Ocean City and Woodward both aspire to deliver amazing experiences that bring people together, doing things they love with the ones they love," Meehan said.

The Woodward WreckTangle first debuted in 2017 at Copper Mountain in Colorado, according to the release. Since then, the company's obstacle course locations have expanded to include: Killington Resort in Vermont, Snowbird in Utah, Camp Woodward in Pennsylvania, Woodward West in California and the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya Woodward in Mexico.

The Ocean City Woodward WreckTangle will be the company's seventh location so far. More locations will be announce soon, per the release.

Chris Gunnarson, senior vice president of youth development for POWDR, said in the release that the WreckTangle obstacle courses are an extension of the company's mission to empower youth through sports, community and culture.

"The WreckTangle is a fun way to experience what Woodward is all about and we are excited to bring WreckTangle to Ocean City this spring," Gunnarson said.
