Chincoteague, Virginia has been nominated in USA TODAY's 2016 Best Coastal Small Town reader's choice contest.

Chincoteague has been nominated in USA TODAY's reader's choice travel award contest to name the Best Coastal Small Town for 2016.

Fans of the island town in Accomack County, Virginia can visit 10best.com/awards/travel/best-coastal-small-town-2016/chincoteague-va/ to cast their vote for Chincoteague, and may vote once a day through Monday, April 25 at 11:49 a.m.

Each of the 20 nominees for Best Coastal Small Town has a population of fewer than 25,000. In addition to Chincoteague the nominees are: Bayfield, Wisconsin; Beaufort, South Carolina; Cannon Beach, Oregon; Carmel-by-the-Sea, California; Duck, North Carolina; Fernandina Beach, Florida; Gulf Shores, Alabama; Ogunquit, Maine; Port Townsend, Washington; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Rehoboth Beach, Delaware; Rockport, Texas; Sanibel Island, Florida; Saugatuck, Michigan; St. Michaels, Maryland; St. Simons Island, Georgia; Sullivan's Island, South Carolina; Traverse City, Michigan and Tybee Island, Georgia.
