Pokémon is making a comeback to the delight of ‘90s kids, everywhere.

The franchise’s latest foray back into public spotlight is Pokémon Go, a mobile game that uses a player's phone GPS tracking to detect where they’re located and shows the player, via their phone screen, Pokémon that are in the vicinity and able to be “caught.” The idea is to collect as many as possible, tame and train the creatures, and use them to fight one another within this virtual reality.

The game, which is available via free download for Andriod and iOS, has exploded in popularity likely due to a burst of nostalgia and the new game’s increasingly thin line between actual reality and virtual reality.

The game encourages users to travel around the real world - to parks and bars and grocery stores - to collect their Pokémon. The town of Exmore is the latest municipality currently overrun with the creatures and the Exmore Police Department is urging players to come and help catch ‘em all, an homage to the original game’s theme song.

“The Exmore Police Department does everything we can to relate to the public and make ourselves available and approachable,” said Sgt. Jason Campbell.
