UPDATE: 911 cellphone call service back to normal in Accomack

Accomack County is facing a 911 calls disruption using cellphones.

UPDATE: The Eastern Shore of Virginia  9-1-1 Commission says Verizon Wireless has resolved connectivity issues and Cellular 911 functionality is back to normal.

 

911 calls made through cellphones may not be getting through to emergency responders in Accomack County and callers are being urged to use a landline to reach emergency services.

"Verizon Wireless is experiencing issues  that may impact cellular 911 telephone calls in Accomack County," The Eastern Shore of Virginia  9-1-1 Commission said in an early Wednesday morning news release.

It said that callers who are unable to reach the ESVA 9-1-1 Center using a cellphone should use a landline telephone to reach emergency responders.

911 cellphone service was also disrupted Tuesday morning for several hours.
