A 54-year-old pedestrian died after a man from Bear struck the pedestrian with his car near New Castle Thursday night, according to state police.

State police said the pedestrian walked onto U.S. 13 around 10 p.m. and was hit by a Chrysler Town and Country driven by a 47-year-old man from Bear. There aren't marked crosswalks or pedestrian crossing signals in the area where the man was killed.

The pedestrian wasn't wearing reflective clothing or carrying a light, state police said. State police haven't identified him as they're still trying to contact his family.

The Chrysler driver wasn't injured, state police said.

U.S. 13 southbound between Saienni Boulevard and Federal School Lane was closed for about two hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
