Caught on camera: Sex behind a trash bin

Police are looking for these two after officials say they were caught no camera having sex in the rear parking lot of Galleria Building located at 45 E. Main St.
The area behind the Galleria in Newark where the incident happened Saturday.

I begin today's piece by saying how thankful I am that I had my young, dumb, stupid period before the invention of smartphones with cameras.

Lord knows what public infractions I may have become famous for if those tools had been around then. I bet the same goes for most of you if you really think about it.

But one thing is for sure, you would not have caught me on camera having sex next to a trash bin in broad daylight behind a doughnut shop in downtown Newark.

Even I draw the line somewhere.

That's much more than I can say for the two people featured in a picture that started making its way around the Internet this weekend.

This hedonistic event on the streets of Newark is the talk of the town on Facebook, Twitter and sites like reddit.com.

We of course can't run the picture, so I'll tell you about it.

Both the man and woman are wearing green shirts – for St. Patty's day, of course. She also had on boots and sunglasses. That's it. Typical man, he looked fully clothed.

I'm sure it was a sight to behold for anyone who happened upon them on the side not blocked by the trash bin.

Reminds me of that old Ray Stevens song, "The Streak" ... "I said, "Don't look Ethel!' But it was too late."

Maybe this copulating couple figured with the university focused on smokers and basketball tournaments, they wouldn't attract any attention behind a trash can.

But it did attract the attention of at least one passerby with a smartphone camera.

And that got the attention of the police, who released this statement:

The Newark Police Department is attempting to identify the two suspects captured by cell phone video and photos engaging in sexual intercourse in public in the rear parking lot of the Galleria Building located at 45 East Main Street. The incident occurred in broad daylight in the afternoon hours of March 15th in plain view of numerous passers-by. The incident was captured by several witnesses via cell phone and was quickly posted on various social media websites.

Suspect 1 is described as a college aged white male with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a green button down shirt, khaki pants and brown boots.

Suspect 2 is described as a college aged white female with blonde hair. She was last seen wearing a green short sleeve T-shirt, jean shorts, brown cowboy boots and glasses.

Anyone with additional information on this incident or the identity of the two suspects should contact Detective Greg D'Elia at (302) 366-7110 ext. 132 or greg.delia@cj.state.de.us.

The lesson today: If in the digital age, you mix alcohol, youth and public sex in broad daylight, you've got all the makings of an unseemly Internet sensation that will follow you for life.
