Celebrity chef opens bakery near Newark

Dana Herbert won the first season of the TLC series "Next Great Baker." His Newark bakery opened Monday.

Dana Herbert, perhaps best known as the winner of the first season of "Next Great Baker," the TLC reality TV show hosted by Buddy Valastro, opened his bakery in Newark on Monday.

We'll have more later this week, but here are some quick details: Herbert's bakery, Desserts by Dana, is in the Red Mill Square shopping center at 1212 Capitol Trail (Del. 2).

Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon.-Fri., and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat. It's closed on Sunday. Call (302) 721-5798 or visit dessertsbydana.com.
