Can Delaware football teams get back on track?

It’s already Week 3. With two top-5 matches (Alabama-Florida State, Oklahoma-Ohio State) already in the books, the season seems to be flying by.

This week, all three Delaware football teams are in action..All three are coming off losses. The SEC East has a big match-up between Tennessee and Florida, and the game of the week involves the defending national champions and Heisman Trophy winner.

No. 23 Tennessee at No. 24 Florida

The Volunteers are making another run for the SEC East. Last season, Tennessee won its first five games before stumbling down the stretch into an embarrassing loss at Vanderbilt. Florida lost at Michigan in Week 1 and then saw last week's game canceled by Hurricane Irma. Tennessee 38, Florida 21.

No. 3 Clemson at No. 14 Louisville

A year ago this game was decided by six points at Clemson, Louisville featured a quarterback who played more like a running back and still won the Heisman. Now, Lamar Jackson is also a passer, and he’s good. What worries me is the Cardinals' defense which has allowed 28, and 35 points to mediocre programs. This game will likely come down to the final play, however, this time it will be the Cardinals who come out victorious. Louisville 34, Clemson 33.

Wesley at College of New Jersey

The Wolverines had an extra week to dwell on their opening loss at Delaware Valley. College of New Jersey is the right opponent to help get the Wolverines on track. The Lions are 0-2 and have given up 38, and 49 points, respectively. Wesley 33, TCNJ 21.

Delaware State at West Virginia

DSU had a chance last week against Hampton to get its first win since 2015. Instead, the Hornets lost 28-15. The Hornets have no chance this week against an FBS opponent. West Virginia 72, Delaware State 0.

Cornell at Delaware

The Blue Hens' defense has been stellar this season, allowing just two touchdowns in two games. Delaware’s defense held its own against No. 16 Virginia Tech. This week, UD hosts Cornell. I’d like to see more from the Blue Hens’ offense, but their defense will suffocate Cornell. Delaware 19, Cornell 3.

Overall record: 7-4
