The best of the best high school senior football players from around the state gathered for a little Blue-Gold advance work on Sunday at the University of Delaware.

It's the kickoff of a week of activities leading up to the Blue-Gold All-Star football game, where the state's best on the gridiron are pitted against each other one last time.

Blue-Gold football rosters announced

The 63rd annual game, scheduled for 6 p.m. June 23 at Delaware Stadium, and all of its surrounding activities, benefit the Delaware Foundation Reaching Citizens with intellectual disabilities.

The Gold won last year’s game 44-0, but like every year, each team has an entirely new roster in June. Blue leads the all-time series 32-27-3.

The game loosely follows a North-South format, with the Gold roster is made up of players from schools south of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal and the Blue roster consists of players from northern New Castle County schools. Due to changing enrollments, players from Christina School District members Christiana, Glasgow, and Newark have been shifted to the Blue team for this year’s game.

Howard’s Dan Ritter will coach the Blue team and Cape Henlopen’s Bill Collick will coach the Gold squad.
