Elena Delle Donne named Special Olympics ambassador

Elena Delle Donne has been named a Global Ambassador for Special Olympics.

As global ambassador, the former Ursuline and University of Delaware basketball star will help bring awareness to the important work of Special Olympics. Other ambassadors include eight-time Olympic medalist Apolo Anton Ohno and former 76er Dikembe Mutombo, among others.

"My sister Lizzie has an intellectual disability and I've always loved working with Special Olympics and being able to get on the court and see young people with and without intellectual disabilities passing the ball and playing together," the Chicago Sky star said in a press release.
