Eagles players rip Cowboys and their fans: 'It's the arrogance of the organization'

PHILADELPHIA – There's nothing quite like Dallas week, where the Eagles and Cowboys engage in a rivalry that resembles a college-type atmosphere.

Already this week, Eagles veterans Malcolm Jenkins, Jason Peters and Jason Kelce sounded off about their dislike for the Cowboys and their fans.

Peters, the 36-year-old left tackle, lives in Queens City, Texas, about two hours away from Dallas. He was asked what people there thought about the Eagles winning the Super Bowl.

"They were saying it was luck," Peters said.

Peters was then asked what he dislikes most about the Cowboys.

"It’s just the arrogance of the organization, everybody, America’s team," he said. "Right now, they’re not winning. Let’s see how many people jump off their bandwagon or stay with them."

Kelce expressed his thoughts on SportsRadio 94 WIP on Wednesday morning, saying: "I just don't think a lot of players, in particular me, just don't really like the franchise, the organization, what it stands for, what it has always stood for.

"A lot of fair weather people from across the country that just kind of fell in love because they're winners instead of having any type of emotional connection to the team whatsoever."

Apparently, some Cowboys fans are jumping off the bandwagon, like a second grader in Texas who wrote a letter to owner Jerry Jones, saying in part: "WE SUCK!" USA Today has the story.

More Cowboys issues

Former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman said after watching the team lose to the Titans that the team needs "a complete overhaul." And that starts with Jones, the owner who serves as the team's general manager.

"Go through the list, and this team, over a long period of time, has been what it's been," Aikman said. "It hasn't always mattered who the head coach has been. So to me, if you're asking me, I'd say there has to be a complete overhaul of the entire organization."

He also called them "dysfunctional."

Head coach Jason Garrett, whom Jones said he won't fire during this season, as the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported, was asked about Aikman's comments. He said on a conference call with reporters who cover the Eagles that he hadn't seen the comments.

Then he added: "The biggest thing we’re trying to do is focus on what we need to do to play our best football on Sunday night. So no real comment on that."

Besides, the Cowboys just traded for wide receiver Amari Cooper with the Oakland Raiders, giving up a first-round pick, just like the Eagles traded with Detroit for wide receiver Golden Tate.

Rapid fire

Running back Ezekiel Elliott called the game against the Eagles a "must win," as NFL.com reported. "One hundred percent, yeah," Elliott said. He's not wrong. A loss Sunday and the Cowboys are 3-6.

Ezekiel Elliott, who is among the NFL's rushing leaders this season, called this Sunday's game "a must win" for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys reacted to Dez Bryant, who had 531 receptions over eight seasons in Dallas, signing with the New Orleans Saints. “I just told him, ‘Congrats, man, good luck on the season,’” Elliott said. The Cowboys will face Bryant and the Saints on Nov. 29 in Dallas. That should be interesting.

Actually, the Cowboys likely won't face Bryant after it was reported that Bryant may have torn his Achilles in practice Friday.

Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee could be out for 4-6 weeks, meaning that he might miss both games against the Eagles. The two teams play again in Dallas on Dec. 9. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that other key players could be out as well.

Washington

You think the Eagles have injury problems. Try replacing three starting offensive linemen, and maybe a fourth, in the span of a week. The Washington Post details how Washington is doing it after signing four free agents this week, with the possibility of two starting Sunday against the Buccaneers.

Quarterback Alex Smith said the season-ending injuries suffered by offensive linemen Shawn Lauvao and Brandon Scherff, and wide receiver Paul Richardson will force him "to do my job a little better." But Smith said he and his teammates can't try to do too much. The Post has the story.

Despite the injuries, NBC Sports Washington sees a way that Washington can still win the division, and it could all come down to the season-finale against the Eagles.

Giants running back Saquon Barkley has 519 yards rushing and 497 yards receiving at the midway point of the season.

Giants

Eli Manning's possible successor at quarterback in Kyle Lauletta is getting a second chance with the team after an arrest for reckless driving during the Giants' week off. Lauletta said he's grateful for another chance and apologized for his actions. Northjersey.com has the story.

Running back Saquon Barkley is having a great rookie season, but he's not satisfied with his play, and said he can be even better over the second half, as the New York Post reports.

The Giants-49ers game is the matchup on ESPN's Monday Night Football. The two teams are a combined 3-14. The two teams actually have a better record than they did when they played each other last year, when they had just one combined win, as NJ.com details.

Buccaneers wide receiver DeSean Jackson has just 28 receptions, but for 626 yards, so far this season.

Former Eagles WR DeSean Jackson answered questions from the media for the first time since demanding to be traded recently. He wasn't. Jackson said he wants to be a bigger part of the Buccaneers offense, but added that he's focused more on winning than his stats.

Colts rookie linebacker Darius Leonard is haunted by his brother's tragic death, a murder that is still unsolved six years later, as the Indianapolis Star details.
