OCEAN

Unfortunately, sea bass season has ended, but they haven’t disappeared from Site 11. The good news is that the flounder are still being caught at the Old Grounds, A Buoy, B Buoy, and Reef Sites 10 and 11 on bucktails and squid combos. Anglers trolling Massey’s Canyon have had luck on wahoo, and dolphin. For surf anglers it’s been mostly bluefish in the surf at Delaware beaches from Cape Henlopen to Fenwick Island. The preferred bait is mullet, a few croaker and kingfish have also been caught from shore.

DELAWARE BAY

Flounder continue to bite at all Delaware Bay reef sites with bucktails and squid combinations working the best, but live minnows have been working as well. Kingfish, croaker, bluefish, and trout are also ending up on the end of the line at bay reef sites on bloodworms. Croaker, bluefish, trout and kingfish have all been caught from shore at Bowers Beach and Broadkill Beach on a variety of baits including bloodworms, mullet, and bunker. A few more keeper flounder were caught at the Cape Henlopen fishing pier this past week on live minnows. Bluefish, croaker, and kingfish are also being caught at the pier on bloodworms, and minnows. White perch and catfish are still in numbers from Augustine Beach to Port Mahon on bloodworms for the perch, and bunker and chicken liver for the catfish. Captain Bones reported nice size croaker at Woodland Beach along with white perch. Bloodworms is the bait of choice. Not long until the striper start running again, as anglers have begun catching them in New Jersey.

RIVERS

Five-year-old Brant Abbot had a fun day catching multiple white perch on bloodworms at the mouth of the Appoquinimink River. Big catfish are being caught out of the Christina River on just about any bait. There are still flounder in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal despite strong winds. Joe Shevlin landed a keeper on a minnow and nuclear chicken gulp.

PONDS

Paul O’Donnell checked into Captain Bones Bait & Tackle with a 4-pound, 8-ounce pickerel that he caught at Blairs Pond while using minnows. Patty at Captain Bones also noted decent bass fishing at Silver Lake, and Garrisons Lake on senkos, frogs, and chatterbaits.
