OCEAN

Tog action has picked up this week. Russ Howe went out on the Fish Whisperer where the boat pulled in 10 blackfish with two of them weighing over eight pounds. Young Aeo landed a 15-pound, 9-ounce blackfish at Site 11 using green crab. A lot of dogfish were also caught at Site 11. Not much has happened this week at the Indian River Inlet. Most anglers have had empty hooks. The surf report hasn’t been much better, lacking action of any kind.

DELAWARE BAY

Woodland Beach and Port Mahon piers are still producing their fair share of white perch on bloodworms. Rockfish seem to have disappeared from Delaware waters as action cooled off from a few weeks ago.

RIVERS

It’s been a quiet week as many anglers stayed indoors for the holidays. Bad news to report from Maryland. An estimated 6,000 fish have turned up dead in the Gunpowder River, Bird River, and other waterways in eastern Baltimore County. Most of the fish found dead have been yellow perch, largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, crappie and catfish. The Department of Natural Resources is investigating.

PONDS

With a recent weather warm up, it’s time to head back to the ponds. Garrisons Lake has been promising over the past couple weeks. Live shiners are sure to provoke largemouth bass to bite.
