OCEAN

The Katydid continued its luck fishing for tautog. The crew returned to port with 27 tog including three citations. The citations belonged to Linford Oberholtzer weighing his fish at 13 pounds, 6 ounces, Dan Megahcn whose catch weighed 12 pounds, 6 ounces, and John Lister who hooked a 12-pounder. Anglers are finding tog at Site 11. Most anglers have been using green crab. No reports from the Indian River Inlet this week. It has been a disappointing winter at the inlet, as the striper run never really got going. Most rockfish lingered in New Jersey waters, and there hasn’t been as much tog action as we hoped.

DELAWARE BAY

White perch have been biting on minnows and earthworms at Woodland Beach. Delaware Bay tributaries are beginning to yield yellow perch, along with a few small rockfish. Nightcrawlers, earthworms, and minnows are all good baits to catch yellow perch.

RIVERS

Not much has been reported in Delaware, however, Maryland rivers continue to give up yellow perch. Anglers are still catching yellow perch in the 12- to 14-inch range in the Chester River despite the wet weather. Owens Marina on the Susquehanna River in Perryville is surrendering its share of yellow perch as well, along with a few largemouth bass.

PONDS

Patty at Captain Bones Bait & Tackle reported crappie and bass action at Garrisons Lake. The crappie were hitting on crappie jigs, while the bass preferred live minnows.
