OCEAN

Tog action picked up at a few ocean structures, however no reports of any boats catching their limit. The Indian River Inlet saw a little action last week, but nothing this week.

DELAWARE BAY

The Delaware Bay hasn’t been kind to boaters. Rough waters have kept most anglers on shore. Don Carroll had a fun day fishing at Woodland Beach catching “lots” of white perch and small stripers using bloodworms. There have also been a lot of perch and short stripers caught at Augustine Beach from shore on bloodworms.

RIVERS

Anglers are doing well fishing the lengths of the Delaware River on white perch and short stripers. Bloodworms have been the best bait. Perch and short stripers have also been the main catch in the Nanticoke River, Broad Creek, and Broadkill River with bloodworms catching the most fish.

PONDS

Anglers continue to struggle to catch trout at Tidbury Pond and Newton Pond. The good news is that trout season in New Castle County is just around the corner. Lines can hit the water beginning Saturday, April 1st at 7:30 a.m., however until then all designated trout streams are closed to fishing. Guy Sterlicchi III landed a 6-pound 8-ounce largemouth at Wagamons Pond that he brought into Captain Bones Bait & Tackle. He caught several other bass as well using minnows, and shiners. Bass are biting well at Garrisons Lake on minnows, night crawlers, and soft plastics. Crappie are also biting at Garrisons on crappie jigs.
