OCEAN

There are still a few bluefish to be caught in the Delaware surf. Ryan Kapocsi hooked another big blue at Fenwick Island on mullet. Landon Johnson pulled in a 23-inch bluefish at Herring Point that he brought to the Lewes Harbour Marina. He caught the fish on mullet. Anglers are still catching bluefish at the Indian River Inlet on lures. Alicen Sharp fished at Indian River with jigs and landed a bluefish. A few flounder have been caught at Massey’s Ditch on minnows. A few kingfish have showed up in the surf for anglers using bloodworms. Charter boats are returning to port with their limits of sea bass fishing ocean structures.

DELAWARE BAY

Anglers are hooking up with black drum at Slaughter Beach, and Broadkill Beach with clams, and crabs as the best baits. Domique Hilldebrand caught three black drum at the Coral Beds. The Katydid ventured to the Coral Beds and brought back several black drum using clams as bait. Grant McGuigan and John Gravatt weighed in a 45-pound drum at the Lewes Harbour Marina that they caught at Site 8 on clams. Bluefish continue to be caught at the Cape Henlopen fishing pier with top water lures working the best. A few keeper rockfish have been caught at Collins Beach, Yellow Can, Augustine Beach, and Woodland Beach with bloodworm and bunker serving as the top bait. Anglers are catching plenty of white perch and catfish at Augustine Beach and Woodland Beach with bloodworms for the perch, and bunker for the catfish.

RIVERS

Anglers hooked into decent size rockfish on the Delaware River near Dobbinsville using bunker. There are plenty of white perch and catfish to be caught in the C&D Canal. Bluefish are being caught in the Broadkill River with mullet, and bunker working the best. Flounder are also being caught in the Broadkill as well as the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal on minnows. Aidan and Grace Hudson brought a couple flounder to the Lewes Harbour Marina that they caught in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal on minnows. Robbie Baxley reeled in a nice 30-inch striper in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal, a nice surprise. The Nanticoke River and Broad Creek are still producing large catfish with bunker as the best bait.

PONDS

I ventured up to Deering, New Hampshire for Memorial Day Weekend and fished Deering Lake. Using a white woolly bugger I hooked into smallmouth bass, and pickerel. The water was incredibly clear to the point that I could view every fish strike which was neat. Anglers are invited to fish, crab, and clam for free in Delaware waters June 3, and 4 to celebrate National Fishing and Boating Week.
