OCEAN

Big tuna and large sharks continue to be the prize catch of the week. Tom and Michelle Serbin chartered the FOMO and went out to the Baltimore Canyon where they landed a 145-pound mako shark using live tinker mackerel. They also lost a couple yellowfin tuna as well. The crew of Price Lindsay, Jim Azato, Jason Lesniczak and Jim Tolson also fished the Baltimore Canyon and hauled in a 162-pound big eye tuna. The tuna fought for over two hours. The Reel Chaotic boat fished the Hotdog and returned to port with two yellowfin tuna weighing 43, and 23 pounds. Anglers searching for sea bass are finding luck at the Del-Jersey-Land Reef. The Old Grounds continue to be a good spot for anglers targeting flounder. Robert Karpovich and David Walker brought in a couple flounder including a 7-pound citation to the Lewes Harbour Marina after fishing the Old Grounds. They were using Gulp on a bucktail. Charter boat Katydid hooked 25 flounder at the Old Grounds with the largest weighing 6-pounds 8-ounces caught by Marvin Crouse. For anglers wanting to fish the surf, the action has mostly been limited to kingfish, however, there are a lot of them. Bloodworm is the best bait to use for kings. Surf anglers fishing at night have had sporadic luck fishing for sand tiger sharks, however, it is not recommended, because the sharks must be released in the water which can create a dangerous situation.

DELAWARE BAY

Anglers can now keep striped bass measuring between 20-25 inches in the Delaware Bay and its tributaries. The limit is still two fish per day. I personally like to fish the submerged jetty at Augustine Beach. Pulling a peeler crab with egg weights in and out of the rocks is my favorite technique, just be careful not to get hung up. White perch and catfish continue to be caught in numbers in the upper bay with bloodworm as the top bait for the perch, and bunker for catfish. Anglers fishing the Cape Henlopen pier are reporting undersize flounder. In Maryland, Ronnie Baker and Jimmy Hukull reeled in two sheepshead and two sea trout in the Chesapeake Bay near Crisfield. They brought the fish into the Lewes Harbour Marina.

RIVERS

Anglers are finding keeper flounder in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. Barry McNeil brought three keepers into the Lewes Harbour Marina after fishing the canal with the biggest weighing 3-pounds 8-ounces. George McClure, Tom and Dylan Casey used minnows and gulp in the canal and caught four keeper flounder.

PONDS

I fished Lums Pond this week and caught a few largemouth bass with the largest weighing maybe 3-pounds. Anglers have had decent luck fishing for bass at Bellevue State Park, Becks Pond, and Garrisons Lake.
