The Old Grounds, Reef Sites 10 and 11 are producing a good quantity of flounder. Christopher Curlett stopped into Captain Bones after fishing in the Flounder Pounder Open. He weighed in an 8-pound,13-ounce flounder that he caught at Site 11 while using a live spot. The fish was large enough to place 4th at the Open. He also caught a 7-pound, 11-ounce citation, along with a couple more flounder over 23 inches. PONDS

I spent the week repairing and upgrading my fishing gear. Every angler should look over their gear, and see what additions and repairs need to be made as often as possible. Frayed fishing lines and busted reels can cost you a prized catch. I also hit Banning Park Monday evening with some of my new gear in hopes to catch a few bass. The water was loaded with algae and forced me to use topwater lures. I found success using a small rubber frog that I’ve had for almost 20 years catching a few crappie, and sunnies, but no bass. Mike Trexler checked in with Captain Bones after catching an 8-pound largemouth bass at Griffith Lake on a minnow. The fish was released. The bass bite has also been strong at Garrisons Lake, and Lums Pond with minnows, senkos, and frogs as the top three choices. Lewes Donovan and Greg Bullock fished Becks Pond using nightcrawlers under a bobber and hooked up with bluegills and crappie. Peter Fechter fished Noxontown Pond and netted a beautiful 18 ½-inch crappie. He caught the fish on a bubble gum jig.
