OCEAN

The Old Grounds is still the top spot to find flounder in the ocean. Anglers are jigging bucktails with squid as the method of choice. The Del-Jersey-Land reef is producing a good amount of sea bass along with a few keeper flounder. Clams have been the preferred bait. Boaters trolling the Fenwick Shoal with spoons are catching bluefish along with a decent amount of Spanish mackerel. Anglers fishing the Indian River Inlet have caught a few keeper flounder drifting minnows. A few triggerfish, sheepshead, and rockfish have been caught at the Inlet as well on sand fleas. The surf report has been good this week. Anglers are catching small blues on bunker. Most of the bluefish have ranged between 10-17 inches.

DELAWARE BAY

Anglers are catching sheepshead and triggerfish at the Ice Breakers and Outer Wall on green crabs and sand fleas. Jay and Morgan Way stopped by the Lewes Harbour Marina after catching nine triggerfish at the Inner Wall. They were using sand fleas and clams. The Cape Henlopen fishing pier has produced a few more keeper flounder this week with anglers using live minnows. Croaker and spot are also biting at the pier on bloodworms. Anglers fishing the upper bay near Augustine Beach, and Woodland Beach are hooking up with white perch, catfish, and a few slot stripers. Bloodworms have been the bait of choice for white perch, bunker for the catfish, and peeler crab for the stripers.

RIVERS

I fished the Christina and Brandywine Rivers in various locations this week with Andrew Houser and caught six slot sized stripers while keeping only two with the biggest measuring just under 25 inches, and the smallest at 22 inches. I also landed my first musky that measured over 30 inches. The musky put up a great fight. We were using bucktails, and storm shad lures. I also saw quite a few baby crabs in the Christina River under the 141 bridge in Newport.

PONDS

Timothy Whaley weighed in a 1-pound 1-ounce bluegill that measured 11-inches with a nice 11-inch girth at Taylored Tackle. He caught the large bluegill at Concord Pond on a yellow jig. Captain Bones reported decent bass action at Garrisons Lake, Lums Pond and Coursey’s Pond with senkos and frogs working the best.
